Midlife Crisis
45 Turns 33
Sound Pollution
The spirit of punk sits with this Swedish supergroup like an aged wine. Midlife Crisis consists of Urrke (Maryslim and Bizex-B, Dregen (Backyard Babies, The Hellacopters, and Michael Monroe Band, Robban Eriksson (The Hellacopters, Strindbergs, Winnerbäck, and Syl Sylvain, and Måns P. Månsson (Crimson Shadows, Wrecks, and Maggots).
After they released three punk EPs since 2004, they came out of the ring with a full-length slab. 45 Turns 33 is chock full of abrasive punk that pays homage to that classic sound. “The American In Me” makes obvious jabs at culture. “Here I Go and Here I Am” fuses garage rock with Sex Pistols power chord revelries.
“Shitty Shitty Bang Bang” shows the flexibility of the band’s potential by spinning on the verge of being out of control. That natural ability to emit such chaos takes control by a group who has a clear understanding of rock and roll. Fourteen songs burn white hot on 45 Turns 33 as this album is a joyride through the core of punk rock aesthetics.
