some fear

Branden “Bran” Palesano’s penchant for creative bliss through slowcore compositions that bleed through the atmosphere is what makes some fear a glorious feat. It stretches back to late ‘90s Deep Elm and a time when musicians pondered melancholy in interesting ways.
What began as a solo effort is now a full band. And what drives this band forward is Palesano’s songwriting efforts, blending dissonance with soft ponderings as is the case with “The Road.”
The group as a whole is able to take Palesano’s vision and add dimensional moments to their slowcore moments. The open dustiness of “Wake Up,” gives them a sense of psychedelic qualities even when the tempo crawls.
“Let It Go” seems too simplistic in comparison but peaks when the group is expansive with their dynamics as heard in “Game.” When some fear clouds your judgment and the grains in their pop music become works of art, then that is when their songs become a statement.
